4 Easy Ideas For Halloween Decorations For Your Yard

Some communities are rather dull and drab during the holidays, while others go all out and decorate with style. This occurs at Halloween time as well as other holidays. Here are some easy ideas I have seen over the years that will transform your yard on October 31st:

Jack-O-Lanterns - These are still the best yard decorations, as they can be done by adults and children together. Kids love scooping out all that goopy mess inside, while adults like the illuminated finished product. Don't forget to go online and look for cut-out stencils. Instead of carving out a face this year, you can carve a hissing black cat with his back arched or a witch in front of a moon.

\"halloween Decorations \"

Cardboard Cut-Out Headstones - These are so simple! All you have to do is cut out headstone shapes from an old box and paint them with a glittery or flat gray paint. If you want to get really crafty, you can add names of friends you are sure will be stopping by to the stones, along with a rhyming cause of death. The popular example I remember goes: "Here lies good ol' Fred. A great big rock fell on his head." Not only will they make the yard look great, but they will be a conversation piece, as well.

4 Easy Ideas For Halloween Decorations For Your Yard

Hanging Bats and Spiders - Craft stores everywhere carry plastic bats and spiders during the Halloween season. If you have trees in your front yard anywhere, hang these decorations all over them with clear fishing line. You can add an extra touch to the spiders by putting a bunch of the spider web decorations in the tree branches along with the spiders. You can also find strings of bat and spider lights, which are exactly like Christmas lights. These make fun additions to your decoration repertoire.

Illumination Bags - Not only are these great decorations, but they keep the trick-or-treaters safe. Bags with little lights or candles inside will light the way to your front yard, helping the eager kids avoid falls. Look for safe instructions to make your own or buy them in bulk to line your driveway and sidewalk.

How you decorate and what you decorate with are really up to you. You don't have to spend a lot of money to make your front area attractive to those trick-or-treaters who might be visiting.

Creepy Halloween Party Decorations For an Adult Halloween Party

When done right, good Halloween party decorations and props can give your adult guests genuine chills they'll remember long after the party. One of the most effective ways to give your decor more psychological impact is to choose a theme. A coherent theme helps set the mood better than a collection of random decorations.

Straight Out of a Horror Movie

\"halloween Decorations \"

If you're a movie buff, this theme will be easy to create. Say your favorite scary movie is Psycho. Set up your entry way to look like the lobby of the Bates motel, complete with guest book. In the living room, dress up a corpse or skeleton prop as the late Mrs. Bates. And don't forget to put the remains of poor Marion Crane in the shower. With the horror movie set theme, details really help. Using the Psycho theme as an example, you might hang a lenticular changing portrait in your living room and label it "Mother."

Creepy Halloween Party Decorations For an Adult Halloween Party

Haunting Ghosts

Even those who claim they "don't believe in ghosts" still get a little spooked by seemingly paranormal activity when the mood is right. To really rock the ghost theme, don't skimp on your ghost decorations and props. Hanging bed sheets won't cut it. What you want, at least for your most visible ghosts, are specters that look like they used to be human. It's the twisted faces, pale skin and hollow eyes that really creep people out. If you have some room in your Halloween decorations budget, look into a ghost illusion prop. These project semi-transparent, 3-D figures that look disturbingly realistic. Ghost illusion DVDs will get you a similar effect cheaper.

A Night with the Devil

This is another theme that's more about chills than gore. To get the most out of this theme, set up a devil prop that's as life-like as you can find. Place him where your guests will be spending most of their time, whether that's in the living room or outside around a bonfire. To compliment your devil, pick up some ghouls and demons. Decent motion- or sound-activated animated demons can be found for less than . Hang up a few winged demons and leave standing ones lurking in dark corners. Placing one outside on a window ledge looking in also creates a nice creepy effect.

Creepy Halloween Party Decorations For an Adult Halloween Party

Once you have a theme in mind, decorating is just a matter of knowing where to get affordable, quality Halloween party decorations and how to set them up for the greatest impact. Visit HalloweenPartyDecorations.org for cheap décor and props and ideas on setting them up.

Out on a Limb on Halloween - Using Tree Branches For the Best, Spookiest, Cheapest Decorations Ever!

This is one of the most overlooked Halloween decorations you can do...for FREE! And, you might just find it in your own backyard! Forget the expensive paper, plastic, and styrofoam junk from the stores. If you want a lot of boo-per-buck, go find some dead tree branches!

Categories: Decoration. Cool. Bigger is better. Cheaper is better.

Skill level: Super Easy.

Out on a Limb on Halloween - Using Tree Branches For the Best, Spookiest, Cheapest Decorations Ever!

Time needed: 30 minutes - 1 hour.

Expense: TOTALLY FREE!

"Trees are NOT just for Christmas!"

Hit the streets and look for branches that have fallen off of the trees. For indoor centerpieces or "trim", gather up a lot of twigs and small branches. I live in Los Angeles (very urban... not a rural country road), and I see branches and limbs on the ground every single day on the streets and sidewalks. These are yours for the taking, and they will give you the biggest bang for "no bucks!" For outdoor decorations, the size of the branches are merely limited to what you can carry or haul away. I head out in my car and carry a battery operated saw so that I can trim down massive limbs to fit into the back of my car.

The awesome thing about dead tree branches is that they are typically "made to order" perfect for Halloween. Obviously, look for the more "spooky" ones with some density and a lot of "branching" because this may come in extra handy if you want to add spider webbing.

Use rope and/or bungie cords to fasten the branches to pillars, posts, mailboxes, entry ways...wherever you can find a sturdy place to support the weight. Use some extra awareness regarding your Halloween visitors: Make sure there are no (sharp) branches pointing out at eye-level (both adults' and kids' eye level.) Make sure there's no way a heavy branch can easily be pulled down by a child or slip off of its mount. Safety with huge "props" is a paramount concern.

The bigger the branches and the more branches that you use outside, the more decrepit and awesome your haunted castle will be. Aside from "filling in the vacant holes" in between your store-bought or home-made props, it adds to the ambiance. I say "no home haunting is complete without 'em!"

Another great thing to do is to add decorations to the branches! ('sounds familiar! But don't pull out any Christmas ornaments!) The best thing is to add the readily available Halloween spider webbing to the branches. You can do this on small interior centerpieces or the massive exterior haunted trees. The webbing is extremely easy to work with on tree branches because you can easily spin, pull, and threat strands from branch to branch. A quick "side bar" on webbing: If ever there was a Halloween Decorations decorating "offense" that people should be ticketed for, it's blobby webbing on bushes and walls. What the heck? Webbing is just that: WEBBING. NOT BLOBBING! A spider web should have taught strands and look like...uh...webs! --not clumps of cotton! The trick is to work the bag-o-webs down to little clumps and then pull them long and far into strands from branch to branch. Put a little time and art into this. Would you throw a pile of garland onto a Christmas tree? (Don't answer that... I have a feeling the same offenders might do just that!)

If you are using any of the black-light tricks and the tree limbs will be near the lights, you might consider spray painting the limbs with fluorescent paint. You can either coat 'em, or lightly dapple them.

One last totally free "trick" that's overlooked is leaves! If you are "lucky enough" to have them already on the lawn...leave them there over Halloween. If, like me here in Los Angeles, you don't have any on the lawn, just go looking for a pile somewhere. Again, even though we live in a warm climate here, there are many, many trees that lose their leaves. I take a garbage bag, hunt some down, and bring them home to sprinkle on the lawn. It's especially great to put them around tombstones and such. There's nothing more "half decorated" than a bunch of "scary tombstones" on top of a well manicured lawn. For Halloween...messier is better!

Without a doubt, these "nature's freebies" are the best, easiest, cheapest, biggest tricks to add to your Halloween Decoration displays.

Flickering, Sputtering, Fluttering Fire Lighting to Illuminate Your Halloween Decorations and House!

Haunted houses, burning buildings, and old time electrical lighting running off of a sputtering generator all have one thing in common: flickering and fluttering lights. If you've gone to Disney's Haunted Mansion or the Indiana Jones ride, you'll see this effect in action. There are pricey devices out there that you can use, but you can make a flickering power unit for around fifteen bucks.

"Fluttering Sputtering Firey Light Flicker-er"

Flickering, Sputtering, Fluttering Fire Lighting to Illuminate Your Halloween Decorations and House!

Ingredients:

1) c7 "flicker flame" chandelier or candelabra bulb
2) c7 nightlight socket
3) 3 extension cords
4) photo-sensor outlet
5) Enclosure (like a shoebox)

The photo-sensor turns on the power to its outlet whenever there is no light hitting the sensor. (These devices are usually used to turn lights on after dark.) If we use the flicker/chandelier bulb near the sensor and put this combination in a light-tight box, the fluttering chandelier bulb will make anything pulled into the photsensor also flutter. That's all there is to it. You will need to experiment with the distance between the photo-sensor and the chandelier bulb.

A) Plug the photo-sensor into extension cord 1.

B) Screw the c7 chandelier bulb into the nightlight socket.

C) Plug the nightlight unit into the OTHER extension cord.

D) Plug both cords into a power supply (the 110v wall outlet.)

E) Plug a third extension cord INTO the photo-sensor unit. This will be the cord that you plug the lights you wish to flicker into. Let's call this the FLICKER CORD.

F) Run the extension cords with the devices into an enclosure like a shoe box. The enclosure must be light-tight. If you will be placing this "controller" outside, make sure the box is weather-proof. We recommend keeping this controller indoors and simply running an extension cord out to your outdoor lights.

G) Plug at least one light into the extension cord (FLICKER CORD) which is plugged into the sensor outlet so that you can adjust the flicker unit.

H) In a relatively dark room, experiment with the distance needed between the photo-sensor and the chandelier flicker bulb.  Tape each down when optimum flickering is reached. Adjusting the distance will change how much or how little the lights stay on or off.

I) Tape down the lid on the enclosure and you're ready to rock!

This delivers a lighting trick that is used in almost every movie fire you've ever seen. The actors are lit with fluttering orange light. (Using orange color spot or flood lamps in the flicker device are common.) "Faulty" or sputtering electrical lighting is also created by running the lights into this sort of flicker device. Remember the the photo-sensor you are using can supply as MAXIMUM of 300 watts of power. If you need more juice, just make more units!

Halloween Outdoor Decorations

A lot of people enjoy going to Halloween parties. During this time of the year, we get to dress up and wear weird costumes that we do not usually wear everyday. Halloween decorations such as spider webs, tombstones, ghoulish figures, pumpkins and bats are scattered inside and outside our houses, so as to create a really spooky atmosphere.

If you are thinking of transforming your house into a haunted house this October 31st, you might want to know some tips on how to successfully do the job. Everything should not be too expensive. As long as you know how and where to look for resources and materials, your pockets would remain safe and secure.

\"halloween Decorations \"

Let me start by suggesting a few Halloween outdoor decorations. If you have a lawn or a front yard, it is best to put up at least a couple of tombstones to welcome your guests. You could use one of those big boxes you can get from grocery stores or used cardboard pieces from your children's school projects the previous years. You could then use crayons or pens to write the epitaph and make up the deceased's personal information.

Halloween Outdoor Decorations

Next, place big and small pumpkins all over your porch and yard. Using spray paint, you could draw eyes and creepy mouths on the pumpkins. You could also draw other styles of intricate patterns. If you have carved pumpkins available, you could light up a candle and put it inside to give off a spooky-looking light.

Get some pieces of old cloth and paper bags. You could create scarecrows, ghost figures and other supernatural creatures from these materials. You could look for a pattern online so that you would have a guide on how to cut and assemble these props. When you are done, you could hand them from the ceiling or the tree branches outside.

Finally, do not forget the lights. You could use your old Christmas lights to illuminate your porch and yard. You might have stored them in the attic or in the basement, so start looking for them now. These lights would be best kept in the bushes to make it appear like they are the glaring red eyes of the devil or some witch looking for her next victim.

Halloween outdoor decorations play a big role in making your Halloween a scary and frightening one. Do not forget to learn from these tips and use them for your next Halloween plans!

Halloween Decorations - How to Set Your Dinner Table

You've sent out the invites for a fun-filled Halloween dinner. You've got fun, dark and scary décor throughout your house. Now it's time to go all out with the table setting. This is the one table setting that should entertain, scare and make the meal memorable. A typical tabletop with seasonal pumpkins and gourds just won't do. No, for this tabletop you need to bring a little fright to the night.

Let's start with the beverages and how to serve them. Dry ice is your friend on Halloween. Almost regardless of what you are serving it can be poured into a low bowl with dry ice on the bottom. The dry ice will keep things cold but it will also provide a nice bit of fog flowing over your table. For the bowl, try and find something dark, ceramic and mysterious. People should wonder what the heck they are about to drink. Be sure and provide a ladle in the bowl for serving.

\"halloween Decorations \"

Half the battle for setting the mood is the lighting and for Halloween the darker the better. Colored light bulbs or colored lamp shades work well. Use a table lamp or two placed on your dining table and either deeply dim or turn off any ceiling lights. Remember, you never saw recessed cans in a horror movie. Using just candles can also be very effective. Deep purple and brown hues will complement the scary mood.

Halloween Decorations - How to Set Your Dinner Table

For mood music, be sure to get some old classic thriller songs with lots of pipe organs and dramatic sounds. If you want to have some real fun, attach a player under your table and have it play some screams, groans, cats fighting, wind rustling trees or wolves howling. Your guests will be surprised when they hear those strange noises coming from their dinner table.

Now let's get creative with the linens. A black or dark brown or deep purple tablecloth is fine but how about some old burlap sacks strewn on the table for more of a warehouse look? If you have an old sailboat sail try draping it over your table. Or even an old canvas tarp will do the trick. Whatever you use, the darker, older and dirtier it is the better.

The centerpiece is where you can tie together the party theme with the dinner table and make the evening really pop. This is where you want to do something dramatic. Perhaps a dead alien on the table? How about a small coffin with a vampire inside? How about a dead werewolf with a wooden stake in his heart on the table? Use your imagination and put lots of detail into it. If it is done well people will talk about it for years. Go ahead and let your creepy side out.

How to Make Halloween Decorations Extra Scary

For people who don't like to spend a lot of time making Halloween decorations, whether it's just for the front porch or your entire house for a Halloween party, there are easier ways to make scarier decorations. You can use some simple techniques to give a whole new look to a jack o' lantern or the paper bats.

Jack o' lanterns are not only the most popular traditional Halloween decorations but they're also one of the easiest to make and customize. You can create lots of different faces in your pumpkin carvings by simply changing how you carve the eyes. Make jagged edge ones, narrow snake like slits or carve them so that they're wider on the outside and narrow at the back (like a funnel). Other than the eyes, you can make slashes in the face or change how you carve the mouth. To make these Halloween arrangements stand out even more, put red marbles in the eye sockets or in the mouth. When you add the candle, it will give a glowing red effect.

\"halloween Decorations \"

Take ordinary masks, and paint them to look scary. Clown masks are the easiest to work with, but you can use other masks too like a cupid (the same that was in the movie Valentine) or just use a hockey mask and reminisce in the horror of Friday the Thirteenth. You can take ordinary masks and add a tangled dirty wig to look like Mike Meyers from Halloween.

How to Make Halloween Decorations Extra Scary

Don't forget to make a good impression with the food, pumpkin cookies and gummy worms aside, don't forget all the great Halloween treats that come out of Halloween gift baskets or try Halloween fruit baskets and fruit bouquets that come in pumpkin shaped containers.

How To Make Your Own Halloween Decorations

Not only will you need to dress yourself for Halloween, but also your home. Why not make some homemade decorations instead of going for store bought ones? Here are some ideas.

1. Fake blood is a great addition to frightening figures. You don't necessarily have to use ketchup. Another way to gain this gruesome effect is with a mix of corn syrup (one cup), red food colouring (2 tablespoons) and yellow food colouring (1 tablespoon). Stir well and you'll find it looks more realistic than tomato sauce.

\"halloween Decorations \"

2. To give the impression you have something sinister in your bushes, use a string of Christmas lights and a few 35mm film canisters. For the eyes, drill two holes on each one - make sure the canisters are facing you. Place the lights so that the light will come out of each hole. Tape in place.

How To Make Your Own Halloween Decorations

If the lights are white you may wish to put red cellophane over the holes to create a more realistic impression of wolves in the bushes.

3. To make a tombstone, take some Styrofoam, grey spray paint and a marker. Cut out the gravestone, any size you wish, from the styrofoam. After that, spray paint it. Once dry, use the marker to write the deceased's name on it. When complete, plant the tombstones on your porch.

4. How about making some bats? You will need foam or construction paper. Once you've chosen the material, cut out the shape of a bat. Paint black and fix to the window or hang from the ceiling.

5. You could also decorate your chandelier. Create a less homely feel by fixing dead branches around it.

6. Glass jars can be useful for crafting Halloween creations. Inside them place water dyed with food coloring, then mix in plastic insects or body parts. To give more realism, place in ragged gauze or waxed string. Now they are ready to go on the dining table.

7. Why not ginger up the punch (but not in the usual way), drop in a hand! Get a plastic glove and some ice. The ice goes inside the glove - don't forget to tie the top. The ice will enable your dismembered hand to float menacingly in the punch.

8. Halloween is not Halloween without a pumpkin. You'll need to purchase one from your store, unless you grow your own. Hollow out the insides, perhaps cut of a face or design then place a candle in the bottom. It will look super guarding your front door.

There are dozens of Halloween decorations you can make. Have a go at some of these, or if they don't take your fancy simply search the net for more suitable ones.

Vintage Halloween Decorations - Hard Plastic Halloween Decorations and Toys

One of the most popular categories of collectible vintage Halloween decorations is the hard plastic decorations and toys that were manufactured from the 1940s and onwards. It's primarily the vintage plastic items that are of interest to collectors, so you will mostly want to take a look at products made in the Forties and Fifties, but some later finds from the Sixties and beyond are certainly interesting as well if you want to put together a fun and whimsical collection.

Some of the brand names to take note of are Irwin, Knickerbocker, Rosen, Rosbro and Union Products, but they aren't even close to being the only companies making polystyrene and celluloid plastic novelty items for Halloween. They are just some of the most well known companies and therefore quite collectible.

\"halloween Decorations \"

Examples of some of the vintage hard plastic Halloween decorations include items like blow mold pieces in various shapes - Jack O'Lanterns, witches, and black cats are popular (and frequently together in a single piece) and many of the Halloween blow molds light up, glowing orange, especially Jack O'Lanterns, of course, but there are all kinds of shapes that are turned into lanterns as well.

Vintage Halloween Decorations - Hard Plastic Halloween Decorations and Toys

But it isn't just the larger blow mold pieces that are popular. You'll also find lots of smaller items in hard plastic that are fun to collect. Look for party decorations such as cake picks, cake toppers and other small decorative pieces made to decorate cakes and cupcakes and other Halloween treats. You can also find Halloween drink stirrers for more adult parties too.

Also, keep on the lookout for hard plastic candy containers. In addition to the large ones designed for kids to take out trick or treating (the large Jack O'Lanterns with straps), there are lots of small candy containers designed for the table. You could arrange a whole collection of them on a shelf together.

In addition to items that are meant to be decorations, there are also lots of hard plastic Halloween toys. You can find lots of little roller toys that are in good condition, so if you're looking for a witch on roller skates you'll be sure to find her. Or maybe you want a ghost that pops out of a Jack O'Lantern to scare you.

Arts and Crafts Halloween Decorations

Arts and crafts Halloween decorations are definitely fun to make and can really can give your home a festive look on this wonderful holiday. You don't have to be the next Michelangelo to create something especially spooky for your home. All you need is some imagination, enthusiasm, and some craft supplies and you are ready to go! Here are a few suggestions

One of the easier crafts for Halloween is creating creepy candles. First acquire dark coloured candles or perhaps those in classic Halloween colours (orange and black). You'll also need some decorations for example sequins, beads, candy corn. The choices for decoration are many. You might be able to find Halloween shaped table sprinkles in your local stores. If the items used to decorate are small, tweezers may be helpful when handling them. Some people even stick on fake cobwebs to give a ghastly glow. Once you've collected together the objects glue them around he candle in a pleasing way. All that's left to do now is place the candles around for home for best effect.

\"halloween Decorations \"

Arts and crafts Halloween decorations can be great projects for friends and family to do together. Enjoys each other's company as you enjoy trying new craft techniques.

Arts and Crafts Halloween Decorations

Another idea for Halloween is to hang scary things from trees. Children love it! It is possible to simply create a ghost from a white balloon plus two plain plastic grocery bags. First cut the handles off the bags and any writing on them. Then shred the bag into dangly strips. Cut towards the bottom seam end stopping an inch away from it. After that blow up the balloon and tie securely. Tape the seams of the bags to the balloon (one at front the other at the back) making sure the knot is at the top. Black electrical or duct tape will hold the plastic bags securely in place. Now draw a scary face on the ghost and attach string to hang it up with. You could also tie bells on to the bottom of the ghost to give a more haunting feel in your garden. Several of these hung all over your yard will certainly give friends and neighbours something to think about!

Take up the challenge of arts and crafts Halloween decorations today. Easy or difficult projects it doesn't matter - just enjoy.

Inflatable Haunted House Props - A Look at the Best Halloween Decorations and Ideas

An inflatable haunted house is both a great prop and decoration for Halloween. This type of blow up yard product is a great idea to decorate your home in October. If you have been to haunted houses, you know that it's all about being scary.

These inflatable haunted house decorations are similar, but not as extreme. These haunting props come with music and sound modules that will spook and scare the people that dare go inside them. Frightening house ideas of this type are made mainly for kids, but teenagers and adults can enjoy them as well. It is probably a good idea to keep the toddlers and infants away because they may be too young to understand that it's not real and become very afraid.

\"halloween Decorations \"

More scary ideas to increase the fear level is to add more props like spider webs and eve wallpaper or macabre pictures that scream Halloween. However, inflatable haunted house props for your lawn or backyard are not even close to the real haunted houses in Houston, Dallas Texas or Atlanta. These cities really go overboard when it comes to Halloween and scaring people. At home, keeping this holiday fun and safe is the main goal.

Inflatable Haunted House Props - A Look at the Best Halloween Decorations and Ideas

If you are a resourceful type, you can probably make your own scary house setup. Craft stores and even super markets will have some great decorations and props that will suit your needs. Look for grave stones, skeletons, pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, knives, cob webs, and more. The list of Halloween ideas is a long one that only is limited by your imagination.

If you just want a little flare, but not too much, definitely go for a simple inflatable haunted house or castle and you'll be set. Of course, don't forget the candy and a carved pumpkin. Halloween should be fun and festive for the kids, family, and friends. Always remember to carry a flashlight when trick or treating and look both ways before crossing the street. Even though many kids are out enjoying the candy and Halloween house decorations, being safe comes first before having fun.

Halloween Decorations the Easy Way

Halloween Decor

Carved pumpkins on the front porch, the crisp night air & strange sounds in the night - Halloween is one time a year you can you can step outside the box and be really weird and wonderful at the same time. Most people have a hard time coming up with ideas for Halloween decorations. In this article, I will show you how to do Halloween decorations the easy way.

\"Outdoor Halloween Decorations\"

The first step- greet your guests with an eerie entryway

Halloween Decorations the Easy Way

You can start with the traditional carved pumpkin but with a little flare. After you carve the pumpkin, take it to the next level by stenciling designs around the pumpkin then use the pumpkin as a planter with fall branches and leaves from the top. Pumpkins are fun and easy and should be the first item on your list. Get the family involved and let everyone put a piece of his or her creative mind into the masterpiece. Hang black rubber bats on the porch and put cobwebs over everything. In one corner, you can setup a mad scientist lab with a big jar filled with green goo, eyeballs, bats, vampire teeth and whatever else you can dream up.

An easy and cheap thing to do is to find an old planter box, paint it black and use a stencil to paint Trick or Treat on the side. Fill the planter box with hay and pile on some pumpkins with a larger pumpkin on the bottom and then use smaller sizes on the next layers; sort of like topiary of pumpkins. For the topiary of pumpkins, I would paint the faces on them instead of carving them. You will want them to be sturdy and maybe even use a metal rod down the center to keep them together.

Another great idea you don't see very often; milk jugs painted with a ghost face filled with white Christmas lights. Milk jugs make perfect ghost & goblins and are extremely cheap and easy to make.

Interior Halloween Decor

One simple and very cheap idea; costume the people in the paintings and photos in your home. This is easily done with paper masks made out of construction paper, scissors, and low tack artist tape. You can use leaves and weeds for hair. It will add that extra flare for your Halloween party.

Wreaths are a great way to add fun to your home. You can make your own or buy them for fairly cheap. Some people aren't crafty and you can purchase ready made wreaths for cheap at craft and/or dollar stores. Unique Halloween Decorations

Everyone uses pumpkins and orange lights during Halloween, but that doesn't mean that you can't find unique Halloween decorations to use both inside and outside of your home. Sick of seeing every house on the street put up the "crashed witches" or huge garbage bag pumpkins? Here are some ideas to keep your neighbors talking about your neat decoration ideas!

  • Masks: Masks don't have to just be for your face-they can be some great Halloween decorations as well! Try lining and entryway with scary masks or even hanging one on your front door. This can also be an inexpensive way to decorate, since you've probably collected a number of masks over the years. Put a mask on your scarecrow, on your garden features like statues, and even your kids' dolls. If you'll be using the masks outdoors, make sure that they are weatherproof.
  • Glass vases: You can fill glass vases with almost anything! Orange, red, brown, and gold are the traditional colors of fall, and you can use strictly black and orange right around Halloween if you wish. Try filling vases with colored leaves, marbles, or orange and black candies. If you want to really get gruesome, you can also use unusual things like plastic bugs!
  • Spider webs: Most people use the fake spider webs outside, but they'll last longer inside as well. The added bonus? It's OK if they get a little dusty! Spider webs are supposed to be spooky, so put away your cleaning products for a few weeks! Make sure that you spray your spider webs with repellent to deter any live inhabitants from making a home! If you want a less scary, try spraying the webs with spray glitter for a pretty touch.
  • Murals: Let your kids go crazy by painting a huge Halloween mural or banner. Buy a large piece of white cloth or even a white bed sheet and allow them to use paint or markets to create something your can display along your wall or even in your front yard. Allow your kids to be creative or, if your children are still young, outline the words "Happy Halloween" or "Trick or Treat" in big, black letters so that you've created a big coloring book page for them to color.
  • Small Changes: You can really make a big impact with just a few small changes. Put up orange and black curtains. Use a Halloween-designed throw rug. Cover the pots of your indoor plants with plastic Halloween containers. These little changes can really make a big difference in your overall holiday spirit!
The bottom line is that Halloween decorations can really help you to enjoy the holiday. You don't have to go overboard or even spend a lot of money to decorate your house. Choose a few key items both inside and outside, and you should be well on your way to a great Halloween. Every year, add a few more items to really build up to a wonderfully decorated house.

DIY Halloween Decorations

Halloween is an occasion that can be enjoyed by both adults and children. Most events and parties are for either children or grown ups. It rarely happens that all age groups can celebrate together. In this article we will focus on home made Halloween decorations and how to involve your children when making them.

Before we get started, it must be stressed that making Halloween decorations, costumes and accessories is not for everyone. If you do not enjoy using your creative talents then don't do it. It will only result in stress and arguments, you are much better off visiting an online shop that sells Halloween party supplies and getting everything delivered direct to your door. The selection is fantastic and you will save both time and money.

\"halloween Decorations \"

No matter what type of decorations you decide to make there are certain "tools" and craft supplies you will need. Any house with children will probably have most of the items already but check before you tell the kids that they will be making Halloween decorations. Items that you will need include, safety scissors, glitter glue, Halloween confetti, water soluble markers, coloured card, pipe cleaners, assorted costume accessories such as wigs and face paints.

DIY Halloween Decorations

Once you have selected a Halloween party theme, for example scary spiders, you can then start thinking about specific designs. This is where the internet comes in handy. Just do a quick search for Halloween templates and you will get a huge selection of designs including spiders, bats and ghosts. It should take no more than half an hour.

Outdoor decorations are just as important as indoor versions at Halloween. Before you finalise the items you are going to make ensure that they are weatherproof if they are to be used outdoors. There is no point making decorations if they are going to dissolve in heavy rain.

After getting all the craft supplies ready and confirming the theme you will need some firm suggestions as to what to make. In our opinion, if you do nothing else then carve or decorate a pumpkin. Halloween would not be the same without a smiling / scary pumpkin in the window. If your children are young then decorating the pumpkin rather than carving it is definitely a better choice.

Before decorating the pumpkin make sure you select one that is nice and smooth. It will help when trying to draw a design on it. Don't forget to cut the top off and scrape out the inside. When cleaning out the pumpkin leave about 1/2" on the inside. You will need the pumpkin to remain rigid.

Pumpkins do not have to last a long time. They are usually prepared the week before Halloween and are left up for a few days after Halloween night. Even so it is a good idea to apply a base coat of orange paint. This is not so important if you are carving a face on the pumpkin but if you are drawing a design then having a well prepared and smooth surface will help make you design stand out.

By the time you have got a nice smooth pumpkin and applied a base coat you will be keen to get going on the actual design. The key to success is to keep it simple. Don't go for an intricate design. Remember you just want the kids to have fun, it is not a master's degree. You may want to trace the design onto the pumpkin yourself and then let the kids crack on with the colouring.

There is no end to the number and type of Halloween decorations you can make. Another idea that is relatively easy to do is candle decorating. Just as with decorating a pumpkin get a nice smooth pillar candle in either black or orange. The bigger the better. You can then follow the same system of tracing a design onto the candle using a template downloaded from the internet. It is then just a matter of colouring between the lines. For best effect you should dig down a few mm into the candle so the design will stand out.

Halloween is a fun time of year and all the activities associated with the occasion should reflect that. There should be no pressure on the kids, they should be given the freedom to decorate as they see fit. You may end up having to do ninety percent of the work yourself, particularly when very young children are involved, but once you plan for that there should be few surprises.

If you are not interested in arts and crafts then you will not be short of alternatives. Scene setters, pinatas, and costumes are just some of the Halloween party supplies that can be easily sourced online. Even if you go down the shop bought route don't assume that the decorations will magically jump out of the box. You will still need time to get the most from them and make sure you have the scariest house in the neighborhood.

Four Scary Halloween Decorations for Your Porch

Halloween has become a huge holiday. When I was a kid, it was all about homemade costumes and one night of trick-or-treating.

Today, Halloween is a full-fledged season for some families. Soon as September rolls around, people begin to plan for the holiday. Or should I say season?

\"halloween Decorations \"

We have four eerieHalloween decoration ideas for your porch here.

Four Scary Halloween Decorations for Your Porch

  1. Create a bat haven on your porch. From stiffened black felt, cut out many black bats. Try various sizes. Use a template you get online. Then using masking tape or duct tape on the back, tape the bats to the walls of your porch. Tape some to your windows and porch railings, too. Some of the bats could hang down from the ceiling using black thread. You will have an eerie porch that will be noticed for sure!
  2. Create a spider covered porch. Scary Halloween decorations are as easy as finding some super-sized spiders at your craft store or home improvement store. The bigger the better. You might even be able to find glow-in-the-dark spiders. Ewwww! While you're at it, pick up a package or two of that fake spider web material. Stretch it in the corners of your porch to create bigger-than-life spider webs. Hang the spiders from the ceiling, the porch columns, and the walls - anywhere you want many-legged creatures.
  3. Rent a fog machine and play some creepy music. Who knows what lurks in the fog? Perhaps nothing but your trick-or-treaters will not know for sure. Playing eerie music combined with the rolling fog will create an aura of suspense and mystery.
  4. Make a crypt look like it has been opened and strategically place a Mummy on your porch, making it look like he has risen from the dead! How about hanging a couple skeletons freely from the ceiling and clothe them in a black jacket and hat? That will scare the munchkins some! Of course, play some of that eerie creepy music and imaginations will go like crazy. Include some jack-o-lanterns around the porch with electric lights.

Your porch, whether large or small, can be a very fun place to decorate for the munchkins that come knocking at your door for treats. Or is it tricks that you generously give? No matter how scary your porch is, be nice to the kids who come by! Use your imagination to create something special that they will remember for a long time.

Haunted porch anybody?

Home Made Halloween Decorations: Five Ideas You Can Make Yourself

1. A Googly Eye wreath

Things you will need for this; glue, a wreath, and googly eyes. This is nice and simple; the trick to this is the right wreath. If you have the wrong wreath it's not going to look right, it's just going to look strange. So the question is how do you know what wreath is the right kind of wreath, well there a simple answer to that, use an amazing new thing called, common sense. Ask your self, would that look right with googly eyes, oh no wait it would look really stupid, and then don't do it, find another wreath. So basically once you have found an appropriate wreath, guess what you do. You use glue to stick the googly eyes on, with your hands, which are attached to your arms, which are attached to your body. But remember, glue takes time to stick on. So leave it on a flat surface until it dries.

2. Walking spider pumpkins

Home Made Halloween Decorations: Five Ideas You Can Make Yourself

Things you'll need for this, black pipe cleaners, a knife, and a couple of mini pumpkins.

Now this is what you do. You take a couple of pipe cleaners, then you stick them in a hole in the pumpkin that you made with the knife, I was talking about it earlier, remember that? I said you would need a knife, do you have a knife? Good! Now hurry up and make a hole in the stupid pumpkin! Then stick in the pipe cleaners and arrange them like spider legs! Now you can do this with a large pumpkin, but you would have to make the pipe cleaners bigger.

3.Carrot Fingers

Things you will need, a knife, and some carrots. That's it, try not to swallow your own tongue

Guess what your're going to do, that's right children, you are going to carve some finger shapes out of the carrots, as to why the fingers are orange, you'll have to come up with that one on your own.

4. Scary candles

Okay I am going to teach you three different things you can do with a candle, that's right, three, think you can keep up?

Things you'll need, thick candle, a knife, and a pack of matches. Now here's what you're going to do. You're going to carve a face in the thick candle, now, when you do this try not to cut your self like a moron, and if you do cut your self while doing this I hope you feel bad.

Here is the second idea, take a couple of tall white candles, and one red one. Can you guess what we're going to do? We're going to melt the red candle on the white ones, Bleeding Candles! Ooooooh scary, in case you can't tell yet, I don't like Halloween.

Okay last candle tip. Get a shallow vase, a black floating candle and some red die, die the water red and put in the candle. If you forgot to light the candle that's not my fault, you're just dumb.

5. creepy pictures

Things you'll need, family photos, Photoshop, the Internet, that's it.

Take any picture in your house provided it has people in it, go on the web find a skull, put the picture you find on the web in Photoshop over the picture your changing. The key to this is to fade the edges of the skull or it'll look like a bad Photoshop done by someone who didn't follow instructions. Oh, wait...

How To Create Your Own Home Halloween Decorations

Whether to decorate your house or your classroom for Halloween, the best choice of decorations are the ones that you make yourself. Home Halloween decorations are fun to make and are really cost efficient in the long run. The camaraderie shared with your friends and family is priceless while you make home Halloween decorations. It is a creative experience that every child will remember doing. In some households it has become a family tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. With just a few materials you can turn your house or classroom into a gruesome, scary, and fun place to have a party or to invite trick or treaters.

The basics of home Halloween decorations are simplicity. Orange and black construction paper is a must. You also need Elmer's glue, scissors, tape, and crayons or magic markers. The best way to start is to start at the top of the room. You can make a boarder to go around all four walls with a paper chain. Simply cut your orange and black construction paper into strips. Curl the strips into a ring and glue or staple them. They must be interlocked and should alternate in color from black to orange. If you really want to get gruesome you can add some blood red construction paper to the chain. To be more creative you can draw symbols of Halloween on each strip to give it more character and depth.

\"halloween Decorations \"

While still working on the top of the room, think of things that dangle from the ceiling. You can make cut outs of the skull and crossbones, witches, black cats, or ghosts from your construction paper to make some great scary figures. The paper is light enough so if there is even the slightest breeze your figures will move with it in a eerie fashion. To make this home Halloween decoration more creative, you may want to create mobiles with the figures by hanging your cut outs on descending sticks hung by fishing line or twine. If you have extra cutouts paste them on whole sheets of construction paper to give it a colorful back ground.

How To Create Your Own Home Halloween Decorations

On your snack table, you can play a joke on your guests by decorating with Halloween food. You could glue all the candy corn together in a huge ball so that when a friend tries to take one, the whole glob of candy corn comes up in his hand. Think of eerie foods that you can serve like gummy worms and marshmallow eyeballs. Your can take the paper plates and draw monsters or scary images on them. Put on a scary movie in the background with the sound off. These can give the room an extra feature of the Halloween spirit. You might want to die your curtains orange or another Halloween color and put candles in the windows. From the outside the candle looks nice but from the inside the candle can cast eerie shadows on the curtain creating a cool special effect. The skies the limit with home Halloween decorations and your imagination and creativity will flourish once you get going.

7 Quick And Easy Halloween Decorations To Make For Your Classroom

Here are seven Halloween decorations you and your students can make quickly and easily. In most cases all you will need is some paper, glue and felt pens or paint.

1. Ghosts!

\"halloween Decorations \"

Draw a large ghost on a piece of poster size card. This can be as simple as an upside down U shape with googly eyes and a zigzag mouth. Glue several white streamers to the bottom. Pin your giant ghost on the notice board for the class to see. Give each student a smaller version of your ghost printed on white A4 card. The students cut these out and glue white streamers to the bottom. Pin the smaller ghosts on the notice board as well. If there's room it's fun to add a speech balloon to each ghost.

7 Quick And Easy Halloween Decorations To Make For Your Classroom

2. Gravestones

Cut a gravestone out of cardboard. Leave a flap at the bottom that can be folded back. This needs to be about a quarter of the height of the gravestone. This will enable the gravestone to stand up. Paint the gravestone grey. Use a sponge or brush to paint darker grey patches. Use a sponge or toothbrush to add black speckles. Use a black felt pen to write a name, date and epitaph. If possible drape with cobwebs and add a spider or two.

3. Borders

Use repeating pictures or patterns to create borders for noticeboards, windows and displays. Print out a copy of the picture you want to use, for each student in the class. If possible, print on lightly colored paper (green, orange, yellow). This will help the pictures create a unified effect when they are lined up. Let your students color the pictures. If they all use the same medium the effect will be stronger (crayon, felt pen, pencil).

4. Raffia

String teased out raffia across a wall in the classroom. Sticky tape cut out pictures that your students have colored to the string, creating a pinched effect at the site of each picture. The rough texture of Raffia and the strings that fall down create a great effect.

5. Dead Tree

Use a dead tree branch to create a classroom display. Place a leafless tree branch in a bucket filled with sand or stones. This works best if you use one with several smaller branches on it. Spray paint it black or let a small group of students paint it black with brushes. Use string to hang pictures and decorations. Add cobwebs and spiders if possible.

6. Bats Everywhere!

Bats fly in large groups. Let your students paint (or color with crayons) a whole bunch of bats. These look great if you paste them to the wall. Have them coming through the door, up and across the wall and then up to the ceiling.

7. Paper Lantern

Make orange paper lanterns with black lanterns to hang on a string stretched across the classroom. To make the lantern, fold A4 paper in half lengthways. Then cut into the card starting at the fold and ending 1cm before the end of the paper. Continue making these cuts every 1cm.
Unfold the paper and glue the two short ends together. Cut a strip of paper to make a handle and glue this to the top of the lantern.

Do-It-Yourself Halloween Decorations

You can turn any home into a haunted house for Halloween by adding the right Halloween decorations. Here are simple do-it-yourself suggestions for Halloween decorations that you, your family, and the neighbors will enjoy this fall.

Gourd candleholders
Dim lighting is essential in creating the right Halloween mood so work on that as the first of your Halloween decorations. Create a low light atmosphere in your home by using candles instead of overhead lighting. To create a spooky candleholder, cut a hole in the center of a gourd, squash, or miniature pumpkin. This might be hard to do so start by gently rocking the knife back and forth until you create a slit. Keep moving the knife carefully until there is an open section large enough to hold a candle.

\"halloween Decorations \"

  • Safety warning: Make sure you put the candleholder on a tray with aluminum foil. As with all Halloween decorations, advise your children to stay away from the flame.

Witch's cauldron
To create the ultimate witch's cauldron you will need a large bowl, dry ice, and water. You can purchase dry ice from a local ice cream parlor or grocery store. Put the dry ice in a container with a tight lid. Then submerge the container in water. Warm water will produce more smoke that will disappear rapidly while colder water will produce less smoke that will last longer. You can put the cauldron at your front door or as the centerpiece on your dining room table.

Do-It-Yourself Halloween Decorations

  • Safety warning: Do not touch the dry ice with your bare hands. Either use tongs or thick gloves. Make sure that children do not play with the dry ice.

Glowing ghosts
A glowing ghost is the perfect example of how simple and fun making Halloween decorations can be. Activate a mini glow stick, slip it inside a balloon, and blow up the balloon. Position the knot of the balloon at the top center and use a black marker to make a face. Use a thin or transparent white cloth to cover the balloon, cut a small hole in the cloth and push the knot through so you can tie a string to it and hang it from a tree, your door, or a lamppost in your front yard. Your glowing ghost will blow in the wind, letting all your neighbors know that Halloween has arrived.

Halloween's just around the corner. It's that time of year again when ghosts and goblins roam the streets. Here are some ideas for Halloween costumes that are easy to execute.
